At Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica), we believe protecting your accounts is a partnership, and there are simple steps you can take to stay secure in today’s digital world. 

Stay mindful of how and where you share personal information, use strong and unique passwords, and enable extra security features like multi-factor authentication. Be mindful of unsolicited emails and messages requesting a response, especially if sensitive information is being requested.

Keep an eye on your accounts for unusual activity and promptly report anything suspicious. By staying aware and taking proactive measures, you can safeguard your information and reduce the risk of fraud.

Enhance Your Security

FCSAmerica will never ask for your financial details or other confidential information through unsolicited emails, phone calls, or messages. If you receive a communication purporting to be from FCSAmerica and are asked for personal information, including passwords, do not respond. Call us directly for immediate assistance.

Below are additional tips to consider to enhance your security.

  • Create strong passwords or pass phrases that use a combination of upper and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters.
  • Do not share username(s) and password(s) with others.
  • Avoid repeating usage of usernames and passwords for differing accounts.
  • Consider using a password manager to store credentials.
  • Consider using biometrics when available to further protect accounts on mobile devices.

  • Do not access your accounts from public machines or public Wi-Fi networks.
    • Avoid unsecured Wi-Fi networks when making purchases online.
    • When you have completed your online session, be sure to log out.
  • Use encrypted email when sending sensitive information (such as Social Security numbers, account numbers, etc.).
  • Enable multifactor authentication (MFA) or two-factor authentication (2FA).
  • Watch out for tampered QR codes that may redirect you to fraudulent sites.
  • Do not click on links in unsolicited emails/text messages.
    • Do not open or download attachments in unsolicited emails as these can contain viruses and spyware.
    • Delete unwanted email.
  • Verify the identity of individuals calling you.
    • Understand phone numbers and email addresses can be imitated.
    • Disconnect from unexpected phone calls when sensitive information is being requested. 
    • Understand the IRS and Law Enforcement Agencies will never call you to collect payment.
    • Understand your bank/financial institution will never call you requesting your account or online account information.
  • Do not leave confidential information in the mail. Consider one of the following:
    • Use mail drop boxes at the post office.
    • Obtain a locked PO BOX in secured mail facility.
    • Use secure online options to avoid risks associated with mailing confidential information.
  • Keep your information private.
    • Do not provide personal information, such as Social Security Number (SSN), Date of Birth (DOB), Bank Account Number, Username, Passwords, or PINs, over the phone to someone calling you.

  • Regularly monitor your account activity and immediately report suspicious and/or unrecognized activity.
  • Sign up for account alerts to receive timely texts or emails to inform you of activity on your account.
  • Maintain an up-to-date anti-virus software program on your computer and mobile device to detect and eliminate malicious threats.
    • Consider installing a personal firewall too.
  • Regularly scan your devices for viruses.
    • Do not engage with pop-up windows.
  • Keep all programs, browsers, and operating systems up-to-date.
